About this service

Crowns (ceramic or gold)

Crowns provide teeth with little tooth structure a stronger foundation for chewing. Teeth that are heavily filled with little tooth structure are often susceptible to snapping, breaking, or wearing down further. Root canal treated teeth also require additional support that can be offered by a crown. Crowns are a long-term, strong and natural looking solution to broken down teeth. Crowns are custom made to fit perfectly and coloured to blend in seamlessly alongside your other teeth. Gold crowns are also available for those who have a preference towards gold. Crowns are also a way to improve the appearance of teeth, such as those previously filled with amalgam (silver-coloured fillings).

Veneers

We proudly offer cosmetic dentistry in the heart of Christchurch. Dental veneers are designed to improve the appearance of your teeth so you can smile with confidence. They are thin porcelain structures that are carefully placed on top of your existing teeth. There are multiple colour options, and the veneers are customized uniquely to you and your needs so you can get the smile you have always wanted.

Dental Bridges

Common solutions to missing teeth are dental bridges, partial or full dentures and implants. The key difference between dentures and bridges is that one is removable and one is not. Dentures need to be removed and cleaned after meals and should be left out at night. Bridges are fixed structures that do not need to be removed. They are fixed in place on adjacent teeth. They are finished to a high standard so you can look and feel confident knowing they blend in with your natural teeth.

Dental Implants - Implant Tooth

Dental implants are considered to be the closest and best replacement of a natural tooth. They can be used to replace missing teeth in the front or back of the mouth, and are custom made to blend in with your natural smile. A dental implant (titanium post) is placed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon into the jawbone to function in a similar way to a natural tooth root. There are many ways a dental implant may benefit you, from replacing a missing tooth to supporting bridges or fixed dentures, talk with our friendly dentists to see if a dental implant is the solution for you.

Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures are designed to replace missing teeth. They can be complete dentures to replace all missing teeth in one or both jaws, or a partial denture to fill in gaps.

Partial Dentures

There are three main options for partial dentures.

-    A rigid plastic base, designed to be supported mostly by the gums.

-    A metal base designed to clip securely to adjacent natural teeth.

-    A slightly flexible plastic base (E.g., Valplast). This option is only suitable for one or two replacement teeth.

Your dentist will advise you on the most suitable option which will depend on multiple factors including:

-   Number and location of missing teeth

-   How much bony support is available

-   Condition of remaining natural teeth

If you are going to have a tooth/teeth extracted, dentures can be made prior to having them removed and fitted immediately after the extractions.

We work closely with highly experienced dental technicians who create remarkable results for you, our patients, so you can be confident in knowing you will receive a denture that meets your requirements.

Full Dentures

Full dentures rely on good bony support and accurate fit in order to retain their position and function effectively. They are most effective in replacing upper teeth, where the roof of the mouth is used to provide support and add retention.

A complete denture can be made before having teeth extracted and fitted immediately after so you can leave with your new smile fitted in place. A full denture allows for you to customise the smile you want and the shade of teeth you want.
