Crowns and Veneers

  • Veneers
    • These are thin coverings that look like tooth enamel, that covers teeth that have become too thin - usually by over brushing or consuming excess acid such as found in soft drinks.  We have both Porcelain and Composite veneers available.
  • Dentures
    • A cheaper option than implants for those who have lost teeth.  We offer a wide range of options including:
      • - Full Dentures
      • - Mini Dentures
      • - Valplast Dentures
  • Implants and Crowns - No more dentures required!
    • Dental implants in ChristchurchImplants are surgical tooth root replacements that support prosthetic teeth or crowns.  They are a permanent solution to missing teeth that have had high success rates over many decades, showing that they are a good option for those who would otherwise need dentures.  It is a two step process:
      • The surgery portion: A medical-grade titanium screw-like structure is inserted into the jawbone by a leading local dental surgeon that specialises in this procedure.  In the 2-6 months following surgery, the implant fuses with the jawbone, creating a strong, permanent prosthetic root for your new tooth.

      • The restorative portion: We attach your new permanent tooth, called an implant crown.

      • We work with Strumann, Brannemark, and 3i implants - well known long-term brands, so that if in 20 years time a part is needed, it can still be serviced.  If you have an implant of a different brand, don't worry, we should be able to help you - give us a call on 03-366-1614 for more information.

      • We offer both gold and white coloured crowns, to suit your personal preference.

Dental Surgery

  • Wisdom Tooth removal
    • Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 16 and 25.  Wisdom teeth commonly affect other teeth as they develop, becoming impacted or "coming in sideways."   When this happens, it is best to have them extracted before they cause damage to your other teeth or jaw bone.
  • Root canals
    • Endodontic therapy is a sequence of treatments for the pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. This set of procedures is commonly referred to as a "root canal."

Emergency Dentistry

If you have a dental emergency please let us know that you're coming in so that we may make sure we're available as soon as possible when you arrive.

Emergency patients are seen same day during office hours.  If your dental emergency happens outside of working hours, please call 03-366-1614 where you will either be transferred directly, or be told the phone number for the on-call emergency dentist at that point in time.

Common dental emergencies include:

  • Broken Tooth / Teeth
    • These can rapidly lead to damaging infections and need to sorted as soon as possible.
  • Knocked out teeth
    • Re-place the tooth in the socket as soon as possible, or transport it to our clinic in milk (not water).
  • Locked Jaw / TMJ
    • If your clicking jaw suddenly locks shut, don't delay coming in to get it unlocked.  If left locked for too long, damage can occur to parts of the jaw joints.
  • Tooth Absess & Periodontal (gum) absess
    • A tooth abscess or root abscess is pus enclosed in the tissues of the jaw bone at the apex of an infected tooth's root. Usually the abscess originates from a bacterial infection that has accumulated in the soft, often dead, pulp of the tooth. This can be caused by untreated tooth decay, cracked teeth or extensive periodontal disease. If left untreated, a severe tooth abscess may become large enough to perforate bone and extend into soft tissue.
  • Dental barotrauma
    • Dental barotrauma are pressure induced tooth fractures.  All of the cases we've seen in Christchurch have been divers whose teeth suddenly fractured while deep diving, though it is possible for pilots to have similar tooth issues due to barometric fluctuations.
